I often wake up in the morning to the sound of sparrows in my back yard. They're generally very social and chatty birds but as all birds they steer clear of humans. And so I thought it would be challenging to paint an encounter between a sparrow and a human. This young girl appears almost ethereal in appearance and I imagined that she came from a world where humans and nature respectfully communicate with each other.
