GOLD
I've always had a great time in the gold country. It's the seat of the 1848 California gold rush and has so much history. This painting is a composite of my memories of that area with the American River and farm lands dotting the valley below the Sierra foothills..

ASSEMBLY AT SMITH SOLD
In this oil painting, I took elements from various weekend walks near Smith Ranch and compiled them into this single oil painting. Most of the components like the island and estuary were taken from the ponds near one of my usual hikes. I always wanted to explore this small, isolated island that I often see so in this painting I created a road leading across the water and ending under a tall tree. Here's where I imagine that I could sit and look back at the rest of the world.
Sometimes I’d see tractors at the nearby farm and their crops graphically inspired me to add them to this painting. I always see Mother Natures artistic hand creating and designing and I just take advantage of this.

THE VINTAGE
In this painting, I imagined the grapes, vegetables, flowers and trees rising from the earth and being transformed into a magnificent creation of colors and shapes. Playing on the idea of vintage, I added the vintage of vineyards and a vintage 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO.

"Urban and beyond" oil paintings inspired by nature, design and contemplation.
TOLAY GRAPES
I've finally gotten around to painting my 3 local ponds which are usually full of geese and white pelican. In the process, I decided to add in the grapevines and olive trees that I see on my drives to the wine country.

A DRIVE THROUGH THE COUNTRY SOLD
In this painting I was inspired by the geometric shapes of local farms, vineyards and rolling hills with the bay and mountains in the distance.

A WALK IN THE REDS SOLD
One of my favorite walks is through the giant redwoods. It's a profoundly humbling experience to walk among trees that are 2000 years old and 300 feet tall..the height of a 30 story skyscraper. I find myself breathing in deeply and just taking in the enormity of these giants. Answers to difficult questions sometimes come quickly and effortlessly. And my life becomes calm, silent and healed.

THE PATH TO DREAMS
The path I painted symbolically leads to dreams and reflections. In my life I've walked many paths and dreamed many dreams. I've had paths of success, failure, joy and laughter. The path leads to the reflection of those past, present and future dreams.

THE APPLE GARDEN SOLD
I came across an apple garden that was hidden away behind an old house. As I walked around the tree I thought it was the perfect sanctuary. There was something about the way the afternoon light was hitting the tree and bushes that made it seem warm and friendly so I had to paint it.

THE GAME
This oil painting was inspired by just a bunch of guys meeting up for a late Saturday afternoon softball game. They're always great fun to watch.
